SHARP EDGE is a house-burnin’ blues/rock & roll band, covering the gamut of all styles... 50’s & 60’s, soul, rock & roll, funk, even some classic British rock, as well as crowd pleasing, rockin’ original material and has been rocking the New Jersey / New York area club scene for over 15 years.

Excerpts from a John A. Wilcox Progsheet Concert Review, The Tubes and Sharp Edge, B B Kings, NY, NY... ”This trio is headline material all the way... Mike Brocato had a growl like Johnny Winter and ripped up his Strat like Stevie Ray Vaughan channeled through Robin Trower... anchored by the tight beyond tight rhythm section of Mauro Buonarota on bass and Ken Serio on drums… a total rave up. I wanted more! This is the sort of band you can listen to for hours and drink in the amazing energy that they produce.”

Fronting the band is MIKE BROCATO, a veteran of the New York/New Jersey music scene, entertaining and fronting bands for over 35 years. Artists who have played with Mike include (Grammy winning B.B. King producer) Trade Martin, (Blues Gold Award winner) Hubert Sumlin, (Mountain Bassist- Guitarist) Richie Scarlet, among others. A prolific songwriter, he was the winner of New Jersey radio station 105.5 WDHA’s only Home Grown Songwriter Competition. His guitar playing style is influenced by the likes of Jeff Beck, Rory Gallagher, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, and the endless list of blues players from the 50’s. Along with standard guitar playing, he also plays slide, and 12 string guitars regularly at gigs, as well as harmonica. His vocal style is influenced by the Rascals, Wilson Pickett, Roy Orbison, Ray Charles, Little Richard, and pretty much any one with soul.

Bassist / backing vocalist MAURO BUONAROTA has been playing bass for over 35 years and is also a veteran of the New York/New Jersey music scene. He has shared the stage with the Beach Boys, the E-Street Band, and worked in various NY theater productions. He has a powerful, hard edged, driving style influenced by the likes of artists Jack Bruce, Felix Papilardi, and Tim Bogert.

Drummer KEN SERIO studied with the great Joe Morello, Kenwood Dennard and Zak Danziger. His recording & touring list include Mark Egan, David Mann, Gil Goldstein, Danny Gotlieb, Ronnie Earl, Bill Turner (Bill Haley & the Comets), groups Asylum, Bed of Nails, among others. He’s had festival appearances around the globe including Italy’s ”Veneto Jazz” and the JVC Jazz Festival in NYC. TV appearances include NBC, BET, and CNBC. Studio work includes jingles for Kel-logg’s and Coca Cola. He was also featured in Modern Drummer Magazine.
