"The New York Blues Hall of Fame honors legendary, master and great local blues artists from the great state of New York. We have formally inducted artists such as John Hammond, Levon Helm and Johnny Winter to name a few but we also like to keep the focus on local, in-the-trenches blues musicians who play their hearts out night after night and give them the recognition they truly deserve." - Michael Packer, NY Ambassador

Michael Packer
Was a legendary bluesman from NYC who passed on May 6, 2017. It was his dream as Ambassador to the NY Blues Hall of Fame to bring the induction ceremony to the NYC blues mecca, BB Kings - having successfully done so over the past few years. His surviving bandmates (Eddie Jackson, John `JB' Becton, Adam Valk and Guy Powell) are continuing the tradition as Michael requested of them from his deathbed.

New Amsterdam Musical Association
Conceived in 1900 as a union for black musicians who were denied admission into the white only local union, the New Amsterdam Musical Association was conceptualized by James Reese Europe in 1904 and has had its share of ups and downs. A dedicated core of Volunteer Members are now working to revitalize NAMA, the first official representative of black musicians in the world, where syncopation fused with ragtime to create swing dance music and set the stage for the music that came to be known as "JAZZ."
