Bio

Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock first met in 1975 on the first day of rehearsals for Jesus Christ Superstar in Sydney, Australia. Bonding over their common love of singing and The Beatles, they became fast friends and cut a single in one afternoon. The song immediately shot to No. 1 on the national charts, and Air Supply was born! After releasing several albums, the duo cut Life Support (1979), whose single "Lost in Love" rocketed into the Top 10 in Australia and somehow found its way to music industry executive Clive Davis in New York. He immediately signed the duo to Arista Records, and in 1980, "Lost in Love" became the fastest-selling single in the world and was named Song of the Year. The duo's second single "All Out of Love" ascended the charts even faster. Air Supply was on its way.

Seven Top 5 singles later, Air Supply had equaled The Beatles' run of consecutive Top 5 singles. The albums Lost in Love (1980), The One that You Love (1981), and Now and Forever (1982), sold in excess of 20 million copies each. The trademark sound of Hitchcock's soaring tenor voice and Russell's simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply. "Lost in Love," "All Out of Love," "The One That You Love," "Sweet Dreams," and "Making Love Out of Nothing At All" have each achieved multi-million plays on the radio. In addition, later singles like "Goodbye" and "It's Never Too Late" (from 1993's The Vanishing Race) enjoyed Multi-Platinum success, and subsequent albums like News from Nowhere (1995), Yours Truly (2001), Across the Concrete Sky (2003), and The Singer and The Song (2005) have solidified Air Supply's status as a soft rock legend.

Air Supply has consistently captivated audiences around the world with its live shows and continues to do so today. In 2010, Russell and Hitchcock released their long-awaited latest album Mumbo Jumbo, which featured the hit "Dance with Me," and 2011 saw them play more than 150 shows worldwide, including stops in England, Ireland, Israel, the Philippines, Korea, Japan, Canada, the U.S., and beyond. With an extensive slate of performances and projects lined up for the rest of 2012, Air Supply will continue to weave its trademark sound into the fabric of listeners' lives all across the globe.
