Native Chicagoan Irving Louis Lattin has been living in New York since 1982. He began playing at the age of 13. He grew up with the Blues & Gospel music of Mahalia Jackson, the Staple Singers, Muddy Waters, BB King , Motown, Memphis/Stax and the British Invasion. The list of infuences is endless...
He began writing songs when he was 17 and started playing the piano at 25. Now, at a ripe old age, he is still making the music he loves which is a blend of Rhythm & Blues, Pop & Funk. For the past nine years Irving has been actively writing songs for the Songs of Love Foundation", whose motto is "Music is Medicine". He writes personal (one time only) songs for sick children in hospitals all over the United States. He considers it a blessing to do this work. He has also sung and played in a string of local and national commercials.
Irving has also done the usual touring of stages in Europe, Asia, Jamaica and Puerto Rico many times.
Powerful as a live solo act on vocals and guitar, he has a surprising range in his song choices.
As a bandleader Irving often plays with some of the best musicians in New York City. As a songwriter/artist he displays a strong and unique originality. Musically prolific, he often writes several songs at a time. His work in the R&B and pop music genre shows his amazing individuality.
