The Main Squeeze is a raging funk experience born within the thriving live music scene of Bloomington, Indiana. Since coming together in late 2009, The Squeeze has managed to establish a unique sound and identity in a short period of time. The band's first studio offering, titled First Drops, is a seven-song EP released in early 2011 that showcases the broad range of styles and influences that each member brings to the table, from rock to jazz, funk to R&B, and hip-hop to electro.
While The Main Squeeze's first foray into the studio proved successful, the growth that has transpired within the group since that first release has been profound. The band's live performances, which fuse soulful vocals, intricate jams, tight grooves, and ripping solos have helped it develop a dedicated and rapidly growing fan base in the Midwest and on the East Coast, earning The Squeeze slots at music festivals such as Summer Camp, Equifunk, Big Pig, and GlowFest. In addition to a recent sold out Rocks Off Concert Cruise in NYC and first place finishes at the Rolling Stone Superbowl Competition and the Macau International Jazz & Blues Festival in China, The Squeeze finally released its self-titled debut album on June 2nd, 2012. The album, which stands as the culmination of over four years of musical growth and personal transformation from the funk quintet, boldly stakes the group's claim as one of the major up-and-coming forces in today's live music scene, and serves as the blueprint for the post-funk sound the band has been cultivating for the past few years.
The evolution - personally, musically, and even spiritually - that a band undergoes during the transition from hometown hero to a nationally recognized act is monumental. But if this new album is an indication of anything, it's that regardless of what the future holds, The Squeeze will continue to learn, grow, adapt, and share its musical vision with the world. If you've ever wondered whether the juice is worth the squeeze, you should look no further - The Main Squeeze is sure to be hitting a city near you sometime soon, leaving the crowd funkified and freshly squozen.
