Best Bigass Supper Club That Rocks

B.B. King Blues Club & Grill

Times Square has become more and more associated with Mickey Mouse and mega–chain stores and less and less with Harriet the Hooker and fast-talking dope dealers. (God, I miss Harriet and those dealers.) The good news is that we have B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, which somehow manages to marry the best of both worlds. On any given night, talent from all genres of the musical world, both past (the Zombies, Jefferson Starship, Peter Frampton) and present (Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), grace the mighty King stage. (B.B. King makes it a habit to pencil himself in for a few prime spots every year.) How many places can boast having Etta James, Earl Scruggs, and Robin Trower in the same week? This spot could have gone the tourist-trap rip-off route, but instead it serves up tasty food (go for the Gospel or Beatles brunch) and cocktails at reasonable prices. So don't be surprised if you're seated close to a couple from Holland who are poking curiously at their calamari. After all, Al Green is Al Green in any language.
